WHAT can I take to the airport for my 6mos olds vacation?
Hi, we are going to Florida for 8 days and I have a 6mos old…We are staying in a house and since she doesn’t crawl etc, I was wondering what am I allowed to check in at the aiport? She uses her walker and exersaucer etc daily…..
I was just wondering if anyone traveled with a baby and took any of their big toys with them? She will be so miserable for a week without anything to do but sit and teeter tot on the floor…. We are traveling with friends and they have 2yrs olds so she wont be safe just sittin on the floor.
(I looked into rentals for toys and they are very very expensive)

I use canned formula so I am going to take the can and bottled water..but baby formula is allowed.. ;o)
Look into one of the baby equipment rental companies. I’m not promoting this one but using them only as an example;

That way, you wont have to fly with anything. If you only rented one or two items, it wouldn’t be too expensive.
Ask your friends to check out some garage sales if there’s time. Exersaucers show up a lot at them and a friends’ mom equiped her own home for her visiting grandchildren this way.
Have your friends simply ask around. You’d be surprised how long people keep baby stuff in their garage. Have them ask any grandparents with out-of-town grandchildren.
Check out Craigslist or Ebay and have it delivered to the house.
The exersaucer is okay but walkers are not good for the child’s development. My children’s orthopedist actually forbid them for my children and my uncle is a physical therapist. If you mention walkers to him, he wont shut up railing on about the evils of those contraptions. ER people hate them too because they are the souce of a lot of injuries. I would especially be careful of using one in a strange place. They’re not allowed to be sold in Canada.
You could also get one of those bumble seats and see if she’ll sit in it and play with toys on a cushin in front of her. A kind of “makeshift exersaucer”.
But don’t rent your carseat. Bring it with you on the plane and try to get a seat for your baby. That and the stroller wont count against your baggage.
You could try to check the exersaucer but while the exersaucer isn’t heavy, it might exceed the diamentions allowed. Contact your airline for baggage alowance details, which are usually on their sites. Perhaps take it apart and put it in a duffle bag with lots of clothes around it. Be nice at check-in and hope they overlook it if it is oversized.
If it contains any battery operated parts, be sure to remove them so it doesn’t start squeeking, singing or beebing en route. Security would not be amused. I actually take the batteries out of any checked toys, put them in a plastic bag and tape the bag to the toy so I don’t lose them and know which batteries go with which item.
