Canon PowerShot SD1000?

Dear friends, today I have ordered a digital camera Canon PowerShot SD1000, I have 3 questions: 1) when I receive my order, how can I check and make sure that it is brand new camera and the seal is not broken, I mean from the packaging and so on? 2) And I will be soon traveling for a week in the mountains and I want to take many pictures, do you think that the small memory card that usually comes with new cameras (it’s usually 16M), will allow me to take many pictures during my vacation? 3) And do you think that I will need to get spare batteries with me? I ask these because I am a beginner and where I’ll be traveling is in the mountains and there I’ll have no access to any store, thank you very much for taking time to answer my question, Sincerely, Passenger

1) it depends on who you ordered it from. Usually there will be a seal on the opening of the camera box. Make sure that it hasn’t been tampered with.
2) You NEED a bigger memory card. Especially to utilize the SD1000. I would suggest a 2GB Ultra. You can get them at Best Buy and even amazon.
3) I’m not sure if you think the camera uses AA batteries, but it doesn’t. I’m going to be traveling a lot, and I always like to have a back-up battery. Canons usually show that you’re low on battery about 2 minutes before the camera dies. And you don’t want to charge the battery every night, because that will drain it. I always suggest 2 batteries for travel.
