Best point and shoot camera for less than $350 ?
I made a research on the internet and found Canon SD 790IS and Panasonic TZ5 .. I think those two are the best point and shoot cameras in the market right now .. here is the comparison link
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=canon_sd790is%2Cpanasonic_dmctz50&show=all
Note that:
. I only care about the quality of the photos (Not the resolution)
. I’ll use the camera only for taking photos for my family and friends on vacations
Now I have some questions:
. Which one is the best for me?
. Are there any other cameras that will give me a better results with portraits and faces?
I’ll choose the best answer with pleasure
Thank you
I would go with the Canon. Just in general they are a very well known camera company and have been in the business for years. Canon is the company choice of many pros and amateurs alike. Panasonic not so much. The SD series point and shoots are great little cameras you wont regret buying one. However here are a few differences that might matter. The panasonic has a wider zoom range 28mm-280mm vs canons 35-105. Canon focus range is 3cm vs 5cm which means it is better for macro. Canon has an f/2.8 aperture on the wide end of the zoom vs panasonics f/3.3 which means the canon would be slightly better for low light shots at least zoomed all the way out. The panasonic has a slightly more powerful flash. Canon only has 1.4 fps Panasonic has 2.5 fps in continuous drive mode. The panasonic has an LCD screen with almost twice the resolution. The panasonic runs for about $150 more than the canon. Keep in mind that these differences most of the time will not be that noticeable and you would probably miss non of the differences in either camera if I had not told you or you had not read them. You will be happy with either camera no doubt. Find a Canon point and shoot in the price range of the Panasonic and you will have an even better camera.
