vacation jargon
If you went to Las Vegas could someone guess where you are from by?

your local dialect or jargon? I was vacationing in Las Vegas and Laughlin about 16 years ago, stayed up till about 6 in the morning playing video poker. My friend and I got on the elevator and there was a well-dressed couple riding along. I had my arm wrapped around a bucket of nickles and friend thought it would be funny to tease me by pinching some of my coins. I looked at him and said “Get your biscuit-hooks out of my bucket!” The lady and man smiled and then she asked “Where are you folks from?” I said “Oklahoma” And they were from Oklahoma, the man was a professor at a Arts & Science college. They knew we were Okies by my biscuit-hooks comment, biscuits are popular here.

I live in California and there’s not much difference in dialect, etc. but once I went to a deli in Washington and asked for avocado on my sandwich. The clerk said “You must be from California. We don’t have avocados here this time of the year”.
