vacation fund

We’re planning for a vacation to Sydney, Australia for 45-60days. How much cash do we need to cover my stay?
Kindly consider 2 females are travelling and we are looking for a budget accommodation so we can maximize our funds and move around more.
It’s impossible to answer accurately without having a much better idea of the amount of internal travel you’ll be doing and just how ‘budget’ you’re prepared to go, but in general, Australia is a fairly expensive place.
If you stay exclusively in backpacker/hostel accommodation, that will cost you an average of $25 per day each for large dorms or $90+ each for twin rooms.
If you don’t want to live exclusively on sandwiches and fast food, you’ll need another $50 each for meals, coffee, snacks etc. and more if you’ll be dining out at restaurants from time to time. Most young backpackers would spend an absolute minimum of $10 per day on booze – only you know if you’ll drink more or less than that.
Flying is generally the cheapest way to travel between major cities. Fares between cities like Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne can often be had for around $100 one way though the standard fares are at least twice that. Don’t even consider hitchhiking. With our wide open spaces and long, lonely stretches of road it’s very dangerous and even though Australia is a very safe country overall, we have our share of weirdos who prey upon hitchhikers.
You’ll also need to allow for tours and other tourist activities and the costs of those are impossible to estimate though everything like that is expensive.
Do the sums – you’ll need a lot of cash for 60 days. If it comes to more than you can afford, perhaps you should come on a working holiday if your country is one with WH arrangements:

That way, you’ll be able to do a bit of fruit picking or waitressing to earn something to stretch your finances.
