Shortening summer vacation puts more stress on teachers. They’re the ones who have to come up with lesson plans, grade homework, and basically deal with 20+ kids every single day for most of the year. Not only that, but having kids home in the summer can cause struggle for full time parents if they have kids who aren’t able to stay at home by themselves for long periods of time. If schools are open during the hotter parts of the year, they need to pay extra for air conditioning to make rooms at lease semi-comfortable. And, to be fair to kids, they do need time to play and relax from the stress of the year.
