Where to go in Maine for nice hotels and photos?
Looking to vacation in Maine. We want to take guided trips to photograph bear/moose. We want VERY NICE hotel accomidations.
So If we have to drive an hour or so from the hotel into the wilderness for the photo portion of our trip, so be it.
Any suggestions on whre to stay or what time of year may be best for such a trip?

the moose and bear are found in ilnad maine (not on the coast)…the most popular areas are
great north woods region:
baxter state park
moosehead lake area
western lakes and mountains region:
town of bethel
rangeley lakes area
of the above i would recommend the baxter/moosehead area
–but if you stayed in the western lakes are, you would be close enough to include the white mountains of new hampshire in your trip
–neither areas are known for hotels (hotel chains anyway)…mostly B$B’s, cottages, etc….the ski resorts (sunday river, sugarloaf) have very nice accomodations similar to what a hotel would offer, other than that i would look on craigslist under vacation rentals..
…you’ll have a great chance of seeing moose, bear are not as common (they are much more elusive)…spring summer and fall are best
