What’s the best Greek island to vacation on and why?
I’m planning a vacation to Greece this summer with two friends. We’re all girls between 20 and 24. We’re flying into and out of Athens, and have time for 3 nights on one island. We’d prefer to fly to the island in the interest of saving time. We can’t decide the best island to visit. Santorini? Corfu? Crete? Mykonos? Paros? Some place that’s fun, good food, good beaches, maybe some nice shopping, young people, where we can choose to be smart with our money or not. What do you think? Help us!
Mykonos and Santorini are I think the best choices for your age, and holiday style. Mykonos can be quite expensive, and too much clubbing-like atmosphere, but you can avoid it if you don’t stay out too late etc. Santorini in the town Fira has a bit too much tourism, which spoils its traditional setting, but the town Oia is beautiful. I personally love Naxos, it has the best beaches. As for flying, you don’t need to for Naxos and Mykonos, there are fast ferries. For Santorini I would take the plane though.
