fishing vacation missouri

Traveling by plane with fish?
I went on vacation for the summer to Washington state and I bought two pearlscale goldfish and now that I’m going back I want to take them with me back to Missouri. I’m traveling via Midwest Airlines and I was wanting to know if it is most likely that they will survive the flight. Will the pressure change hurt them? And will they be okay after a 5 hour car travel and lobby waiting time, a 4 hour flight, and a 3 hour drive back home? That would mean 9 hours in the packed plastic bag and 3 hours with open air until we can get them in the tank with a bubbler. Would the x ray hurt them and if so, how would we get through security? Could I take them on the cabin with me or would they have to go somewhere else? Would I have to not feed them for two days prior to the flight?Does anyone know if Midwest will even let fish on board? Would I have to take them to the petstore and have them package them? more below…
Thank you sooo much! Sorry for all the questions and I appreciate your help!
It’s possible to do, but I’d suggest getting the help of a pet shop to do this because of the materials you’d need.
You won’t be able to carry the fish yourself, and baggage is not only kept where the temperature will change, but often the holds are unpressurized, so the air and water in the bag is essentially in a vacuum and could explode. When fish are shipped from collectors or fish farms to your pet stores, they’re shipped as cargo in pressurized holds with internal heat packs.
This website will explain what you’d need to do: http://www.atchison.com/ArticlesandStories/Shippingfish.html It would be best if you had someone trustworthy in Washington who could pack and ship the fish to you 1-2 days after you leave so you have a chance to get settled in at home and get a tank set up for them for when they arrive.
