christmas vacation, Gatlinburg, TN?
We are planning a vacation to maybe Gatlinburg, TN and would like to know ideas for our family. How’s the weather there? Also any other great christmas vacation idea is welcome.
I’ve spent a Christmas in Gatlinburg before. It’s pretty nice. I don’t know if there’s enough to do for a full 1 week of vacationing. Gatlinburg itself has a good main street with lots of crap shops, and a few side shows (Ripleys..etc). The aquarium is actually quite nice. The haunted places on the main drag kinda suck, but the one called “Mysterious Mansion” is one of the better ones I’ve been in. You’ll want to spend 1 day at the Cherokee Indian reservation in North Carolina (30-45 minute drive east), and visit Dollywood if it is open… it’s one of the best underrated theme parks in the US. You’re probably not going to be doing much hiking / camping due to the weather. I’d say you will be able to fill 4 days easily, but after that you’ll be digging at the bottom of the barrel for things to do.
