To go or not to go on a three day vacation that includes a timeshare presentation?

We have no interest in actually buying anything but are considering going on the trip. My main problem is that you won’t know where you’re staying until you get there. I don’t want to drive the 6 hours to make the trip and then be stuck in a dump of a place. They say you’ll stay in a three-star hotel. What are your thoughts on this? Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing? I’d like to hear from anyone who’s done this, but I’m especially interested in hearing from you if you’ve dealt with Bluegreen Vacations Unlimited, Inc.

It should be a nice place. Generally, they make you go mid week. You might want to book yourself an inexpensive hotel in the area and make it a full week outing it this a place you really want to visit.

If it is not a place that you really want to visit then don’t go. Why would you subject yourself to the hassle just for a free hotel room?

BTW if you want to ease up on the sales pressure, tell them that you lost your job the previous week and that while you are sure you will be back to work soon, it might be best if you waited but that you would love to find out all the information on timeshare that you can. (unless they have a requirement that you have a job when you sign in)

BTW timeshares are not a good deal. I travel often and can always find nice places to stay that are under $100 per night and often under $50.00. You could take the money a timeshare costs and put it in a bank at 5% and be able to afford a vacation just on the interest. Plus you are not stuck for maintenance and repairs.
